Perth Stadium is a new multi-purpose stadium with a capacity of 60,000 people, located in Burswood, Western Australia. GMF Contractors had the privilege of working as the detailed earthworks and pile breaking contractor for this prestigious project. Works included detailed earthworks for footings and columns, detailed trim, pile crunching and cropping and detailed backfilling. The multiple facets of the project involved work completed unlike regular building construction, requiring skill and finesse to achieve close tolerances. GMF was also called back to site to complete custom works for the cricket pitch.

The Perth City Busport was a complex, top-down construction project involving the excavation and movement of nearly 65,000 cubic metres of soil. GMF successfully completed excavation for the bus station itself as well as excavation of the entry tunnel from Wellington Street. One of our major responsibilities throughout the project was to carry out works within a crowded and congested area, which involved safely handling traffic and pedestrians within proximity. The sheer volume of traffic during the day made it necessary to establish working schedules, including extensive night works to remove contaminated spoils.

PROJECT ACHIEVEMENTS
All work completed was supported by critical health, safety, quality and environmental management systems, including the implementation of exhaust fans underground to ensure safe working conditions. In addition to logistical issues to overcome during the day, GMF safely managed a series of complexities involving environmentally sensitive issues (presence of peat and acid sulfate spoils), de-watering issues and scrutiny daily from stakeholders, as the works were carried out in full public view.
GMF was involved in the development of the Fiona Stanley Hospital, the largest building project undertaken by the State Government to date. GMF were engaged in the bulk earthworks for the main hospital building and many of the ancillary buildings. We successfully provided carpark works for development of the external car park, emergency department car park, car park drop-off, loading dock and patient set down and main entry drop off. Significant preparation and construction works were provided for the creation of a man-made lake and adjoining bike paths.

GMF successfully delivered earthworks for the Edgewater Train Station multi-level carpark, encompassing 1,450 car bays. The Project involved the redevelopment of existing drainage swale and associate stormwater installations.
