Toodyay Rd & Railway Pde Road Upgrades

GMF were engaged to upgrade Toodyay Rd to allow for 2.6km of new overtaking lanes and turning lanes in addition to the extension of Railway Pde connecting a recently installed bridge over Ellenbrook River.                                                            The works involved bulk earthworks and the import of fill to build up either side of bridge including backfilling abutments. The critical risks associated with the project were high voltage overhead powerlines, heavy traffic, MRWA and local residents.

PROJECT STATS

  • 86,000m² topsoil strip with 34,000m² reused
  • 62,000m² of new roads constructed
  • 400m of drainage pipe & associated 25 pits
  • Removal of 3,000m³ of alluvium contaminated material
  • 13,000m³ earth moved
  • 2km of reshaping and forming new table drains, V drains and E drains.

PROJECT ACHIEVEMENTS

GMF completed the full scope of works with zero accidents or incidents. Through strong liaison with the City of Swan, no complaints or delays to completion were incurred. Little to no dust pollution was critical to the project with existing housing and residents in a very close proximity to the work.
